Our pic-of-the-week highlights the differing trends in full-time and\u00c2\u00a0part-time job creation in the recession and recovery. The U.S. economy has added more than 8 million jobs so far in the job expansion\u00c2\u00a0that began in January 2010,\u00c2\u00a0and nearly all of the net new jobs are full-time. First part-time employment does not typically surge in recessions as it did in the recent recession. Second, part-time employment historically trends upward and is not doing so in this recovery.
